Aptis is a modern and flexible English language proficiency test, designed to meet the diverse needs of organisations and individuals around the world. Aptis for Teachers is a variant of Aptis, and has been designed by British Council to evaluate the English language skills in the educational sector.

Rizvi College of Education in collaboration with the British Council has been conducting the ‘Aptis Test for Teachers’ since 2015. So far 59 student teachers have undertook the test which has enabled them to track their English levels. The college initiated the test with an objective of adding more value to the teachers produced by the institute in comparison to others.

Dr. Radhika Vakharia( Principal) of Rizvi College of Education “ Over the years I have seen that the English language communication skills of students have gone down drastically. This affects the quality of teaching in school. I wanted that my to be teachers are not only good in pedagogical skills but equally good in their English language proficiency. This led us to organize the Aptis test for them”.

More about Aptis
Aptis is the British Council’s global English assessment tool. It is an online one day test of 3 hours duration undertaken by the candidate. Aptis efficiently and accurately assesses the English skills of the pre-service teachers’ viz., grammar, vocabulary and language skills (speaking, writing, reading and listening). After the completion of the test candidates receive results within 48hours. The results indicate their CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) (A1-C2) level for each skill tested. With Aptis certification, prospective employers will be able to gauge the level of English language proficiency of teachers they wish to employ. The college plans to conduct the Aptis test in future as well.
