Rizvi College of Education in collaboration with the British Council conducted the ‘Aptis Test for Teachers’. 20 student teachers of Second Year B.Ed during the month of February-March, 2017 undertook the test in college IT lab. The college initiated the test with an objective of adding more value to the teachers produced by the institute in comparison to others.

Dr. Radhika Vakharia( Principal) of Rizvi College of Education “ Over the years I have seen that the English language communication skills of students have gone down drastically. This affects the quality of teaching in school. I wanted that my to be teachers are not only good in pedagogical skills but equally good in their English language proficiency. This led us to organize the Aptis test for them”.

More about Aptis
Aptis is the British Council’s global English assessment tool. It is an online one day test of 3 hours duration undertaken by the candidate. Aptis efficiently and accurately assesses the English skills of the pre-service teachers’ viz., grammar, vocabulary and language skills (speaking, writing, reading and listening). After the completion of the test candidates receive results within 48hours. The results indicate their CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) (A1-C2) level for each skill tested. With Aptis certification, prospective employers will be able to gauge the level of English language proficiency of teachers they wish to employ. The college plans to conduct the Aptis test in future as well.

“The test helps one gain insight on areas that needs improvement. The test has been a different experience and helped me identify my language proficiency”.
Jucilia Fernandes, Aptis Score: 219/250

“Aptis, tests ones day to day communication which is quite often taken for granted. It was no doubt an enriching experience and has helped me bag a teaching offer from one of the most well-known chain of school in Mumbai”.
