Rizvi College of Education Women’s Development Cell organised a session on “Physical Wellbeing of Women” on 17th March 2022. The session held online on zoom was led by Dr. Sayali Wankhedkar-Gundavda. Dr. Sayali Wankhedkar-Gundavda holds professional qualifications like MBBS MS(Obstetrics & gynecology) and fellowship in reproductive Medicine (Kiel, Germany) Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) Authored 3 books & Won prizes at various national and international conferences.
Dr. Sayali’s talk focussed on health issues faced by women, areas where they lacked awareness and the ways and means to deal with it. She also tried to break certain myths related to women’s physical wellbeing.
Dr. Sayali was introduced and welcomed by Mrs. Spoty Karthik. Dr. Sayali started her talk by discussing the health issues faced by today’s women, especially with the multitude of roles they have to play in their life. She discussed menstrual health in detail with the ovarian cycle phases; how the hormone imbalance acts; and also how to conduct self- assessment during the menstrual period. She explained the reasons for period cramps and demonstrated certain simple yoga postures to reduce it. She also discussed various menstrual cups, sanitary pads etc. and in the end discussed safe sex practices.
The college principal Mrs. Nahida Mandiwala shared her thoughts on the issue and Ms. Karishma rendered the vote of thanks concluding the very helpful session.
