The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) at Rizvi Education Society’s Rizvi College of Education started on February 19th, 2024, to encourage students and the community to get involved in democratic process. The club aims to make students realise their duty to participate in democratic activities and to give them the knowledge they need to make good choices as responsible citizens.
OBJECTIVES
Sensitizing Students on Electoral Rights: The primary objective of the Electoral Literacy Club is to conduct activities aimed at sensitizing students about their electoral rights. This involves educating them on the importance of participating in the democratic process and understanding the significance of their role as responsible citizens in the electoral system.
Familiarizing Students with the Electoral Process: The club aims to familiarize students with the electoral process, specifically focusing on the procedures of voter registration and voting. This involves providing comprehensive information on how to register as a voter and the steps involved in casting their votes during elections.
Student Registration in the Electoral List: One of the practical goals of the club is to actively engage in the registration process of students in the electoral list. By ensuring that students are registered voters, the club contributes to increasing the overall participation of the student body in the electoral process.
Creating Awareness in Society: The Electoral Literacy Club extends its objectives beyond the campus, aspiring to create awareness in the broader society about the electoral registration process. This involves outreach programs, campaigns, and initiatives to inform the public about the importance of being registered voters.
Training Students and Community Members: The club is committed to providing hands-on training to students and community members regarding the voting process. Through workshops, simulations, and practical sessions, the objective is to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently and effectively participate in the democratic process.
